Adult Basic Education and GED Testing

GENERAL INFORMATION

  • Class meets on Wednesdays:  6:00-9:00 p.m.
  • Classes meet in Room A104 at the Morris Area Elementary School, Community Education Pod.

· You can begin classes at any time; just come in during the open hours.

  • Classes are free.
  • Receive help to improve reading, writing and math skills.
  • Learn to complete applications and forms.
  • Prepare for vocational school or college.
  • Prepare for the GED exam.
  • Work on everyday living skills.
  • Prepare for the written driver’s license test.
  • Work at your own pace within a small group setting.

BASIC READING—Do you have an adult friend who can’t read or has low reading skills?  Any adult who has difficulty with basic reading and wants to learn can get help.  One on one private tutoring by trained volunteers is available for adults working on basic reading, writing and math skills.  Call 320/585-2230 for more information.

ENGLISH AS A SECOND LANGUAGE—Help for adults whose native language is not English, and who need to learn or improve their English speaking, reading, spelling and writing skills.  If you or someone you know would be interested in this service, call 320/585-2230 for more information.

GED TEST PREPARATION

Individuals not enrolled in high school can receive free assistance in GED test preparation at Adult Basic  Education/GED classes held  in Morris.  Computer basics,  as well as basic reading, writing, spelling, and math brush-up, are also taught.  Information on these ongoing classes is listed at the top of this page.

GED TESTING

By Appointment Only

The GED Test Center is located in the Community Education office, in the Elementary School.  For information or appointments, call 320/585-2226.  Cost of the GED test is $70.  In Minnesota, you must be 19 years of age or older (unless a waiver is granted) to take the GED test.
