Camp Alpha is an exciting four-day event held in the west central community of Morris, MN. Camp is cosponsored by Morris Area Community Education and the University of Minnesota, Morris. The camp is targeted at students in grades 4-8, and it truly is a blast! Students at camp will be involved with many different aspects of astronomy, aerospace, science, and math. They will tackle problems faced by real NASA scientists and learn the latest information on current space missions.
Campers have two options – in addition to choosing day camp or overnight camp – to select from:
A. This is for the Basic Camper. You will receive a complete launch system and two model rockets.
B. Challenge Kit. This is for an experienced model rocket builder. You will receive a kit to build several rockets and will work more independently. You will NOT receive a launch system.
NOTE: * The overnight option for Camp Alpha is $295.00. * The day camp option is $235.00. * Campers choosing the Challenge Kit are charged an additional $25.00 fee. * Camp Alpha begins 3:00 p.m. on June 20, and concludes at 4:00 p.m. on June 23. * Partial scholarships are available based on financial need. * Camp fills up fast. travel over 200 miles per hour? How about designing a landing craft
with a mass of only 45 grams - about the weight of a cell phone -
capable of protecting an egg dropped from over 40 feet? Do you want to
build your own comet? Ride in a Moon Buggy? Gaze at stars in the largest
observatory in the area? Build and launch air-powered rockets? You will
do all this and more at Camp Alpha!
